THE TRIAL AND THE CRUCIFIXION
JESUS BARABBAS
BARABBAS is a title NOT a name, and it could mean SON OF GOD │ However, “BAR” meaning SON and “ABBA” meaning FATHER, was my first find about this person. But what gets revealed and who he was keeping company with, did surprise me to begin with, but their outcomes, did not surprise me as they went about their lives with no intention to PLEASE GOD.
So, our journey begins –
Two men with the same name with the same claim and much the same crime. How do we know which one was released? Many of the older Christians believe that JESUS did not die on the cross because another died for him.
Muslims today hold JESUS CHRIST in very high regard as a PROPHET who was ordered to be crucified but whose place was ‘taken by another’
Who could be right?
A quick look at the DEAD SEA SCROLLS. I was surprised that the name JESUS, does not appear in it. It only reports on a TEACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. It reports about the community of QUMRAN, but not in specific details about the ‘man’ JESUS.
Let us have a look at what the BIBLE that everybody enjoys reading, has to say.
The JEWS were a small but permanent thorn in the side of the EMPEROR. The widespread expectation for the arrival of a new MESSIAH to kick out the ROMANS was getting the local population far too excited.
The ROMAN authorities, began to feel threatened by the rise in the nationalism in JUDEA. They called on HEROD and they planned to move against known troublemakers. And JESUS becomes their target.
The bodyguards of JESUS, the SICARI, dagger men, armed ZEALOT fanatics, were assassinating JEWS who were friends of ROME. The general population was getting over-confident about the possibility of seizing independence.
The ROMAN authorities took to wipe out trouble before it got out of hand. We can only imagine what followed, those strange situations that are recorded in the OLD TESTAMENT.
However, back to the fact that we could have two competing MESSIAHS amongst two diverse groups in JUDEA. It is well documented that there were many claimants for the title of MESSIAH during the first and second centuries. But what I could not find is a ‘Jesus of Barabas’ on the genealogy Date Line of the Families of the Bible.
So, the ‘what if’ there were two MESSIAHS at their peak of popularity at the same time? They would have been called JESUS by their followers because it is a description given to the saviour of the JEWISH PEOPLE. Their provider of victory and future prosperity. JESUS son of GOD, has a track record, Jesus of Barabas, only surfaces at the time of the crucifixion However, I allow the story as it is told and known.
At the point of this general pre-emptive arrest, one of these MESSIANIC figures may have been known best as “JESUS, KING OF THE JEWS” and one was known as “JESUS, SON OF GOD”
As these ‘criminals’ were paraded in public, PONTIUS PILATUS became aware that the situation was becoming explosive. He feared a bloodbath in which he might be a victim, he then offered to let one of these two captive MESSIAHS go. . .
The crowd had to choose between their KINGLY MESSIAHS, or their PRIESTLY MESSIAH and they chose the latter. Is it possible that the ‘real’ JESUS might not have been crucified but was ‘released.’ Just saying. . .
Then we look at logic and a second scenario based on KNOWLEDGE. There was a traditional requirement for there to be two MESSIAHS, who would work hand-in-hand to achieve the final victory of GOD and HIS chosen people –
A KINGLY MESSIAH from the tribe of JUDAH, the ROYAL LINE of DAVID, which was JAMES would be joined by a PRIESTLY MESSIAH from the tribe of LEVI, which was JESUS, son of MARY.
This was expected, during this time, that according to tradition, JEWISH PRIESTS had to be LEVITES.
This theory assumes that at the point of TRIAL ‘both’ MESSIAHS had been arrested and charged with causing CIVIL INSURRECTION, but it was not JAMES, who was known and accepted to be the KINGLY MESSIAH, so where did this Jesus of Barabas come into the story of the crucifixion. I could not find the answers, I continue to wonder.
The JESUS from the ROYAL LINE of JUDAH was held and died on the cross.
WHICH WAS WHICH ??
The JESUS who was born to MARY, who claimed to be the MESSIAH because he came from the ROYAL LINE OF DAVID, and was born in DAVID’S city of BETHLEHEM
However, as can be read in the opening pages of the NEW TESTAMENT, this descent, through a string of ‘begets’ is based upon the genealogy of MARY’S HUSBAND JOSEPH, a LEVITE, who was not, according to Christian belief, the father of JESUS.
A cruel twist of cold logic – if he were the SON OF GOD, why could he NOT be the ROYAL MESSIAH!!
JESUS born to MARY could not technically be a KINGLY MESSIAH, but he could be the PRIESTLY MESSIAH. His mother is known to be a relation of JOHN THE BAPTIST, who was a LEVITE. So, JESUS had LEVITE BLOOD himself, never mind who his ‘father’ was.
If this JESUS had followed this argument it would be clear that it was NOT he who died on the cross, BUT he accepted to be BOTH and therefore it is concluded that JESUS, did die on the cross that fateful day.
Should I have the right to conclude, I would say that JESUS died as the ROYAL MESSIAH, due to the fact, that when he met JOHN THE BAPTIST for the first time the ‘seed of mind’ of the rules of the NAZOREAN was planted in his heart and mind.
I find the story of the release of a prisoner on the day of the CRUCIFIXION a complete invention of the later Church. That simply did not happen. It would have been a very un-ROMAN and foolish way to run a legal system. The reality is that this was a unique plan of PILATUS’ to meet the needs of a delicate situation. Most of the crowd were from QUMRAN and supporters of JAMES.
JESUS on the other hand was the KING OF THE JEWS. He did not have enough voices shouting for him, so he was found guilty. Within the valley of JOSHOSHOPHAT, in the GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE. He was scourged, whipped, and crowned with thorns, and crucified on a ‘T’ cross with the words ‘KING OF THE JEWS’ above his head. It is said that he died unusually quickly.
WHAT ABOUT ST. BARNABAS
This time we see that the word ‘Barnabas’ means the ‘Son of the Encouragement.’ His father, a LEVITE was a priest in CYPRUS, however they lived in JERUSALEM and migrated to CYPRUS, where he worked in a church. ST. BARNABAS’ original name was JOSEPH THE LEVITE.
He reappeared during the trials and tribulations leading up to the crucifixion of JESUS, not sure if they met, but BARNABAS was truly intrigued by the teachings and faith of JESUS. He, it is said, could recite the first five books of the TORAH, verbatim.
We need to keep in mind that the BIBLE as we know it was not yet available. But the TORAH was.
He met up with ST. PAUL, who was SAUL, after a three-year study program of the Bible, he became a priest,. However, we see that his heart was not so focused on the LAWS OF GOD.
ST. BARNABAS and ST. PAUL, became travelling partners and after a period in JERUSALEM, they became members of the APOSTOLIC FATHERS. What is not clear to me, did the APOSTLES create an APOSTOLIC ‘BROTHERHOOD’ after JESUS’ death? A new CHURCH and with the assistance of ST. BARNABAS, we see the birth of the CHRISTIAN CHURCH? Without doubt ST. BARNABAS was a true ‘believer’
Anyway, it appears that on a planned CHRISTIAN JOURNEY back to CYPRUS via DAMASCUS, they met up with MARK, a cousin of ST. BARNABAS. SAUL did not like this ‘friendship’ and they parted company.
We see that MARK and ST. BARNABAS travels on together. Let us have a look as to who exactly wrote the NEW TESTAMENT BOOK OF MARK, as the author is reported to be unknown. But not truly unknown to us, as I found that ST. BARNABAS wrote the NEW TESTAMENT BOOK OF HEBREWS, not PAUL as it was reported.
The question that needs to be asked, could ST. BARNABAS have been that ‘person’ who wanted to become the MESSIAH after JESUS. Did he come to JERUSALEM too late? Or was it both, him, and SAUL/PAUL, if it was both of them. How fickle a relationship they had, all because their intentions were obviously not GOD inspired.

This was truly a messed up little BLOG to conclude, SAUL, PAUL, BARNABAS and all their wicked intensions to ‘claim fame.’
Back to our JESUS, GOD, did not save JESUS, from evil, but HE was there with his son in the end, taking him home, very quickly. I pray from the bottom of my heart that GOD protects me from preachers of HIS word, such as persons of Saul and that of Barnabas’ characters.
