THE ‘KINGDOM’ OF NIMROD

If we ‘believe’ the Bible verse of Genesis 10:8-11
“He was a mighty hunter before the Lord.”
Therefore, it is said,
“Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord”
Then NIMROD, is not a fiction of our imagination, he was ‘real.’ He had a brother named RAMAH. However, my researched found that often the story of NIMROD was mixed with the stories of GILGAMESH and even with the stories of NINUS.
We start this BLOG saying that GILGAMESH is not NIMROD, and NIMROD is not GILGAMESH. NINUS is also not NIMROD. NINUS, was the king of ASIA.
Further evidence of his existence is the Biblical verse of MICAH 5:6, where ASSYRIA is called ‘Land of NIMROD’ and CHRONICLES 1:10, which talks about his might.
So let us take a look at who NIMROD could have been.
First I need to clear up the story that NIMROD married his mother. Then it is written that he was married to SEMIRAMIS. She was the wife of NINUS. Cementing these two statements as false, we look at our DATE LINE and it reports that NINUS, lived outside of the DATE LINE of NIMROD. NINUS rose to fame soon after the said FLOOD of 2 350 BCE and NINUS’S world failed in the year 2 189 BCE, after a 52-year reign.
My research on NIMROD indicated that he only lived 500 Years, and his year of birth was 2 138 BCE, and his death around the year 1 638 BCE in UR. So, we see that NIMROD was born after the fall of NINUS, and that of his wife SEMIRAMIS.
He knew ABRAHAM, and he disagreed with ABRAHAM as we know.
Before we get into the history I uncovered about NIMROD, let us take a walk along his genealogy. NIMROD was the son of CUSH and his wife QARNABIL, CUSH being the son of HAM and in turn, the son of NOAH. He grew up in the company of his uncles and a few of his cousins and nephews, as well as his Grandfather NOAH, who passed in 1 988 BCE, when NIMROD was 270 Years old, NOAH did not kill NIMROD.
NIMROD had a wife and sons, AZURAD, ELAEZER, MAGOR and HUNOR. It is this ELAEZER who became the head of ABRAHAMS household. Yes, ABRAHAM could not have been poor if he could have ‘afforded’ a major-domo.
NIMROD’S kingdom is said to have been BABEL, ERECH and AKKAD in the land of SHINAR. What we know is that HAM lived in Mesopotamia, in the land of SHINAR or SUMER. He was given ‘Africa’ more Egypt and he settled in the NUBIAN Desert, which is also referred to many times over, as AETHIOPIA. What throws all of us off the ‘scent’ of where CUSH or KUSH could be is the Greek Translation of the Bible.
The translators did not distinguish between various areas, and so translated all areas they did not know to be ETHIOPIA or AETHIOPIA. Be it EAST AFRICA or SOUTH-WEST ARABIA, NORTH ARABIA, SOUTH ISRAEL, and once even MESOPOTAMIA.
I took a look at the travels and cities HAM, his sons, and their families travelled through. They settled in ‘Africa,’ some for shorter periods than others. First, ATBARA which is today SUDAN. AXUM or AKSUM, today in the TIGRAY REGIONS and the MOROE or MEROE, on the east bank of the NILE. North East of KABUSHIYA, near SHENDI and SUDAN. This was a nice find for me, not sure why though, but it was.
NIMROD’S mother the wife of CUSH was, as per the PERSIAN RECORDS, QARNABIL, the daughter of BATAWI and the son of TARIS, the youngest son of JEPHETH.
Something which got my attention was that in some reports, the children of QARNABIL and CUSH were often referred to as the ABYSSINIANS or the SINDIS, or even the INDIANS.
This is what I found. ABYSSINIANS, were also the ETHIOPIANS, and spanned the regions of presentday ETHIOPIA, inclusive of ERITREA, which coincides with AXUM or AKSUM.
The SINDIS, are INDO-ARYAN Ethnic Groups. They speak their own language known as SINDI. Today they are native to SINDH, a SINDHI speaking area of INDIA known as BALOCHISTAN in PAKISTAN.
We see the reference to INDIANS. I am sure it does not mean the NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS. It does refer to INDIANS of INDIA. So, who of CUSH’S sons went where? We accept that NIMROD travelled back to MESOPOTAMIA in SUMER.
Unfortunately, we will not get to know, because very little if any records were found.
Most of my research has reported that HAVILAH, the son of CUSH, is HAVILAH in SUDAN. I think not. He left home and travelled South, possibly more East, and settled in NORTHERN ARABIA. Genesis 25:17 – 18, reports that it is there that he settled. Fortunately, I found HAVILAH, to be ancient SAUDI ARABIA, where ISHMAEL, son of ABRAHAM settled. What I need to know is did the two-family members get to know about each other?
CUSH and QARNABIL had at least six children, NIMROD, SEBA, HAVILAH, SABTAH, RAAMAH and SABTECHAH. Of all his children, only NIMROD, SEBA, SABTAH and SABTECHAH were written about. RAAMAH, is only referred to by some, but no mention of any of his achievements. On the other hand, we know a region of NORTHERN ARABIA, which is known as HAVILAH, and it would appear that he settled there. For now, not much could be found about him as a person.
Our journey places CUSH in EGYPT’S NUBIA DESERT. NIMROD, is placed back in what we will now refer to as SUMER, as he died in UR.
I must remind you that he grew up in the army and had become head of the army. He had the responsibility of protecting the idol industry of the region. His‘attack’ on ABRAHAM who only believed in ONE GOD, was tiring for everybody, until GOD ‘told’ ABRAM to leave and travel to the PROMISED LAND.
What I must point out, is that NIMROD was never cursed, as he was not of the line of CANAAN. His idol worshipping was all his personal choices. However, we do understand and accept that his behaviour never pleased GOD.
A funny story. NIMROD, befriended TERAH, the father of ABRAHAM. TERAH had become the ’sounding board’ for NIMROD during his conquest to create an EMPIRE. Then TERAH married his first wife, AMATHLAI, the mother of only ABRAHAM. He, ABRAM, was convicted that there was only ONE GOD, and we understand and know what followed, between NIMROD and ABRAHAM.
What we need to remember is that BOUNITER, the fourth son of NOAH, was an ADVISOR and PRIEST to NIMROD. What I further understood is that ASSHUR, the son of SHEM also joined ‘TEAM NIMROD.’ I do not know ‘what’ TEAM NIMROD got up to. It is said that they built NINEVEH, CALAH, RESEN, and REHOBOTH-IR. I could not find REHOBOTH-IR, and it could have been the HIGHWAY or ROAD TO ARBELA out of NINEVEH. RESEN, modern day SELAMIEH, is situated 12-miles or 19.3 Kms South of NINEVEH, between NINEVEH and CALAH.
It appears that NIMROD, could not have built NINEVEH. NINEVEH was well under construction during the year 2 600 BCE, yes before the FLOOD in 2 350 BCE, and before his birth in 2 138 BCE. There was a city called NIMRUD, this city was an ancient ASSYRIAN CITY, located in IRAQ, south of MOSUL, further south of the City SELAMIYA (SELAMIEH) in the NINEVEH PLAINS in Upper Mesopotamia. It was a MAJOR CITY between 1 350 BCE to around 610 BCE. Could this City, known as NIMRUD, have been ‘confused’ with the name NIMROD.
The City of NIMRUD, was strategically located North of the point of where the TIGRIS meets its tributary THE GREAT ZAB. Perfectly located out of reach of the rising SEA LEVELS of the time when LARSA and UR were harbour towns.

Excavation on the site of NIMRUD, started in 1 845 CE/AD and then again in 1 879 CE/AD and again in 1 949 CE/AD. In 2 013 CE/AD it was finally found and identified. Unfortunately, in 2 015 CE/AD 90% of it was destroyed by bulldozers for being seen as a non-Islamic City. Fortunately, the remaining 10% is now under the protection of the present-day IRAQ FORCES.
A great pity, as we could have learned so much from that dig. During the 1 845 CE/AD and 1 879 CE/AD digs, and also the digs of 1 945 CE/AD, these digs produced giant sized artifacts, which were shipped off to many Museums around the world, for safe keeping. So, we could see the craftsmanship of that era.
As per the KINGS LIST the survivors of the 10 900 BCE ICE AGE FLOOD. They got together and built the disputing cities of NIMRUD, NINEVEH, CALAH, as far as EGYPT and such as GOBEKLE TEPE in TURKEY and evident today in South America, to name but a few.
So, the question remains. Did NIMROD, become a mighty king of BABYLON, and owned an EMPIRE? When I walk along the DATELINE of the many ASSYRIAN EMPIRES which began in the same region, my answer is no. I do not think that there was ‘room’ within the ASSYRIAN EMPIRE for NIMROD.
He managed to ‘gather’ the troops and grow his idolitary ‘church,’ because he was a sly and cunningindividual, a great hunter of men and animals. He managed to grow his numbers. With his personality and his mighty physic, he certainly got to draw the people ‘in.’ He had to have moved out of ASSYRIA and then into BABYLON. Could he have built a mighty EMPIRE there? I cannot see it. Because if he did, he would have left a legacy, and I could not find any true evidence in any cross references.
What NIMROD achieved, nothing could quell his fear of a new ‘person’ who could be born and who would challenge him. He called TERAH, then head of his army, to have all the new born boys killed. But as GOD would have it at a very old age TERAH and AMATHLAI, had a baby boy, yes a boy.
TERAH hides his son in a cave for an extended 3-year period. He then presented a servants new born boy to be killed, thus saving his own son.
Being in that cave allowed ABRAHAM to witness the beauty of the rising sun, the setting sun, the moon, and the many stars in the heavens, it was then, at that early age that ABRAHAM started his journey that there can only be ONE GOD.
What we know is that from the age of nine, ABRAHAM, was preaching his ONE GOD ‘sermons’ and of course NIMROD had to hear about all, and the chase began.
ABRAHAM, confronted him, but could not ‘convert him, and GOD then tells ABRAHAM to leave that evil place and march onto a land GOD had prepared for him. We see that the land suffered a mighty drought, and we find ABRAHAM marching onto EGYPT.
Back to NIMROD. How did he die? why is not the question, but how? And by whose hand. There are so many, who might have killed him. To name but a few, NOAH, SHEM and then there is GOD himself. It cannot be ESAU. The DATE LINE SIMPLY does not add up. So, no matter who, he had to die and end a horrible legacy of SOUL-DESTROYING behaviours.

I think ABRAHAM left SUMER and journeyed through NINEVEH or was in NINEVEH all the time. What puzzles me is that GOD tells him to go to CANAAN. Then GOD changes HIS mind and creates a FAMINE. ABRAHAM is then forced to march onto EGYPT.
How often does GOD change his mind about our personal journeys? I believe that HE does more often than not, when HE can ‘see’ we will need protection from proposed evil as the landscapes and people such as NIMROD could harm us. GOD gets to set safer paths for us, and then he SMILES. How often do we THANK GOD. All we can say is ‘it is what life offers us’ – silly us, we should acknowledge GOD more often in our lives.
